The Contribution of Wantannas to the Rohingya Issue: A Humanitarian Role Amid the Crisis in Aceh
Wantannas RI has actively contributed to Indonesia’s humanitarian response to the Rohingya refugees in Aceh.
Forms of Assistance Provided by Wantannas RI:
Health and Logistics Aid
Wantannas participated in the delivery of logistical aid such as food, medicine, clothing, and baby supplies to Rohingya refugee camps in Indonesia, particularly in Aceh.
Medical teams from Wantannas, in collaboration with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), provided essential healthcare services, including maternal care, child immunizations, and psychological trauma treatment for victims of violence.
Collaboration with Other Institutions
Humanitarian missions carried out by Wantannas were conducted in coordination with other national and regional agencies to ensure an integrated and effective response.
Humanitarian Mission as Part of Indonesia’s Diplomacy
The assistance provided by Wantannas RI is not only technical in nature but also serves as a symbol of Indonesia’s solidarity as the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country.
Wantannas’ involvement reflects Indonesia’s soft power approach to the Rohingya issue—blending humanitarian action, human rights advocacy, and regional diplomacy within the ASEAN framework.

Challenges and Impacts
Access and Coordination:
The delivery of aid is often hindered by geographical conditions and bureaucratic procedures in Aceh.
The Contribution of Wantannas
in the Rohingya crisis strengthens Indonesia’s image as a country that cares about humanitarian issues, while also enhancing diplomatic relations with the international community.
