Jakarta – Public Relations of Unsurya:
Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma (Unsurya), through the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Industry (FTDI), continues to strengthen its efforts in advancing national aerospace research. A concrete manifestation of this initiative was the presentation of a proposed research collaboration between the Center for Aircraft Design and Aerospace Studies of Unsurya and the Indonesian Air Power Study Center (PSAPI), held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Super Puma Hall, Campus C, Unsurya.

This strategic event was attended by the Rector of Unsurya, Dr. Sungkono, S.E., M.Si., along with members of the university leadership, including the Vice Rectors I and III. Representing PSAPI were Air Chief Marshal (Ret.) Chappy Hakim, as Chairman, and Dr. Tommy Tamtomo, M.Phil., Ph.D., as Vice Chairman and Head of Research and Development. Also present were Dr. Aprilia Sakti K., S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Center for Aircraft Design and Aerospace Studies at Unsurya, along with the entire research center team.
The event began with remarks from the Rector of Unsurya, who emphasized the importance of synergy between academic institutions and strategic agencies in achieving national technological self-reliance. This was followed by a presentation from the Head of the Research Center, outlining the research direction and focus areas, including aircraft structural design, aerospace systems, and the integration of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies.
The Chairman of PSAPI also delivered a strategic perspective on the importance of building air power based on Indonesia’s potential and characteristics as an archipelagic nation.

The strategic collaboration between Unsurya and PSAPI is built upon four main pillars.
First, the development of a sixth-generation Air Power doctrine tailored to Indonesia’s air defense needs in the era of autonomous technology, swarm drones, and electromagnetic warfare.
Second, the strengthening of collaboration in aerospace research and technological innovation, particularly in aircraft design and aerospace systems.
Third, the enhancement of human resource capacity through knowledge exchange, curriculum development, and training aligned with industry and defense demands.
Fourth, the formulation of a national air power research roadmap as a strategic guide to direct future policies and the development of Indonesia’s air power capabilities.
The open discussion within the forum fostered broader opportunities for continued collaboration, including the possibility of joint research, co-authored scientific publications, and the development of national strategic research projects.
The event concluded with the symbolic handover of a book by Air Chief Marshal (Ret.) Chappy Hakim to the Rector of Unsurya, representing intellectual friendship and a shared commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s aerospace sector through research and education.

Through this collaboration, Unsurya and PSAPI affirm their position at the forefront of building an advanced Indonesia in innovation, technological sovereignty, and national air power grounded in integrated research.
