Case-Based Learning (CBL) at Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma (Unsurya) is a learning approach that emphasizes the analysis of real-world case studies to develop students’ critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and practical skills. This approach aligns with the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which aims to enhance the relevance of education to the needs of industry and the workforce.
CBL Implementation at Unsurya
The Faculty of Aerospace and Industrial Engineering (FTDI) at Unsurya conducted a workshop on July 30, 2024, focused on developing Semester Learning Plans (RPS) that incorporate both project-based and case-based learning. The workshop was attended by 80 participants from among Unsurya’s lecturers and aimed to design a curriculum that is more applicable and aligned with current industry developments.
During the workshop, Sudra Irawan, S.Pd., M.Sc., Head of the Informatics Engineering Department at Politeknik Negeri Batam, recommended that the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) be initiated gradually. He suggested starting with the development of project themes and Lesson Implementation Plans (RPP) for two selected courses, followed by curriculum adjustments to better suit the needs of project-based education.
Additionally, the development of a PBL system integrated with a website platform was proposed to facilitate coordination, project management, and communication between lecturers and students. This would help ensure that the implementation of PBL is more organized and easily accessible for all stakeholders involved.
