Jakarta, July 20, 2025 — A total of 62 students from the Diploma 3 Nursing Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma (UNSURYA), took part in the National Competency Examination for Indonesian Health Workers (UKOM Nakes), which was held simultaneously across the country on Sunday, July 20, 2025. This examination is a crucial and strategic phase in the academic process, serving as an exit exam required to earn the Associate Degree in Nursing (Ahli Madya Keperawatan) and obtain professional competency certification.
The purpose of the competency exam is to measure graduates’ achievement of competencies based on the Indonesian Nursing Council’s established Competency Standards for Nurses. It is also a primary requirement for graduates to legally and professionally practice nursing in healthcare facilities.
The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences UNSURYA, Marsma TNI (Ret.) I Dewa Ketut Kertawidana, SKM., MKK, expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm and readiness of the students in facing the exam.
“UKOM is not merely a final assessment but a starting point for our students to enter the world of professional practice. We are proud that they have been equipped not only academically, but also through field practice, skill simulations, and soft skill training,” he stated.
To support the students, the faculty conducted a series of preparatory activities, including tryouts, intensive tutoring, and clinical reviews to ensure optimal readiness in facing the Computer-Based Test (CBT)-based exam. For this year’s UKOM, all students took the test at official exam centers designated by the national committee.

One of the participants, Bulan Artamevia, shared that she felt more prepared and confident thanks to the preparation and guidance provided by the lecturers and the institution.
“We were given UKOM simulation training, both theoretical and practical, including practice questions similar to the CBT format. The lecturers’ guidance was very helpful in tackling this challenge,” she said.
The National Competency Examination is a mandatory requirement in accordance with Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation No. 44 of 2015, and aligns with the Ministry of Health’s policy to maintain the quality and professionalism of healthcare workers in Indonesia.
UNSURYA’s Rector, Air Vice Marshal (Ret.) Dr. Sungkono, S.E., M.Si., also offered words of encouragement to the participants. In his message, he emphasized that the competency exam is a vital part of the university’s mission to produce excellent graduates with integrity, ready to serve the nation.
“FIKES UNSURYA has shown a strong commitment to shaping a generation of nurses who are not only competent but also uphold ethics, discipline, and nationalism,” he affirmed.
By participating in this UKOM, it is expected that all participants will achieve optimal results and soon earn the title Ahli Madya Keperawatan (Associate Degree in Nursing), making them ready to take the next step as professional healthcare providers in hospitals, community health centers, and the rapidly growing homecare services sector.
