Jakarta – Public Relations of Unsurya:
A total of 62 third-year students from the Diploma 3 Nursing Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma (FIKES Unsurya), participated in a clinical excellence practicum as part of the Air Medical Evacuation Clinical Practice course. The practicum was conducted in two phases. The first session took place from February 24 to March 14, 2025, at LAKESPRA dr. Saryanto. The second session was held from May 5 to 23, 2025, at two main locations: the Hajj Dormitory Embarkation Facility and the Vaccination Service Unit at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
To ensure the effectiveness of the practicum, all participants were divided into three major groups. This arrangement allowed the students to rotate and maximize their clinical learning at each site.
Air medical evacuation is one of the core competencies in the field of emergency nursing and patient transport. During the practicum, students were trained to understand operational procedures, utilize medical equipment during air transport, and develop communication and interprofessional coordination skills in emergency airborne situations.

At the Hajj Dormitory Embarkation Facility, students applied the nursing process comprehensively, starting from physical examinations and assessment of anxiety levels to managing patients in emergency situations that may occur during the departure process of prospective Hajj pilgrims. In addition, the students also conducted health evaluations of the pilgrims as an early detection and prevention measure against potential health risks during the Hajj pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, at the Vaccination Service Unit of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, students were involved in providing vaccination services for the public and airport personnel. This practicum enhanced their understanding of public health services in an air transportation setting and strengthened their communication and health education skills.

The objective of this clinical practicum is to enable students to apply the theories they have learned on campus in real-life situations, particularly those related to air medical evacuation processes and procedures. Through this activity, students are expected to gain hands-on experience that enriches their professional competencies as future nurses, while also preparing them with the professionalism and job readiness required in the healthcare sector.

This activity is part of the commitment of the Diploma 3 Nursing Program at FIKES Unsurya to prepare graduates who are competent, adaptable, and ready to face challenges across various healthcare service settings, including emergency situations and specialized locations such as airports and Hajj embarkation facilities.
